It's my "Seriously" yarn from sKnitches, inspired by my favorite TV show, "Grey's Anatomy." This is the most expensive yarn I've ever bought, but I decided to have a little fun and be a "joiner" this time. I mean, it's the only show I regularly watch (when there's actually an episode on!). It's nice, custom yarn. So this project will be mine---all MINE!
Yep, that's right. I'm finally making something for myself. Socks, of some kind. The pattern is still undecided. I assure you that it will be easy, though. I've never made adult socks before. Should be fun.
So, that's all. I just wanted to show off my purchase. And maybe make you jealous.
Oh, and by the way: so none of you have ever made an ugly project? I was hoping to have at least one participant in my Ugly FO giveaway who actually followed the rules. So far, that hasn't happened.
Help a girl out here. Make me want to give you a nice skein of Blue Sky Alpacas Organic Cotton. Post about your ugly FO, with a photo, with a link here, and sign Mr. Linky so we can all find you and make fun of (uh, I mean enjoy) your project. :-)

The Ugliest FO Contest
I cast on, and a few days later, I got to the finishing part. The pattern was for DPN's, but I'd rather poke my eyes out with them than knit with them, so I did Magic Loop instead. What's it matter, right?
Well, in this pattern, it does. A LOT. You kitchener stitch a third of it closed, make I-cord, and knot it. Then you kitchener stitch the second section, I-cord, and repeat this process for the last third.
See how those pointy tops are around the hat? Not in a straight line? I figured out when I finished the second part that something was wrong. Horribly, horribly wrong. But, I decided to just give up because it was so darned ugly that honestly, finishing it properly wouldn't have helped!
Behold, the Ugliest FO EVER!!!
My 14 year old son and I affectionately call it the "Butt Scrubber," because I honestly can't think of another use for this awful thing.
What's that? You don't think it the ugliest ever? Well, prove it.
That's right, knitters. If you can show me a FO uglier than mine, you will win something very non-ugly: a skein of Blue Sky Alpacas Organic Cotton, in the color you choose from my stash.
But you have to put your money, or knitting, where your blog is. Show me your ugliest FINISHED knitted work on your blog, linking back to this post. Come back here and sign Mr. Linky so we can all see how talented you are :-), and on April Fool's Day (for all of us foolish knitters :-)) I will announce the winner. The winner is whoever I think has made something more horrendous than me. (Well, it's my contest, so I can do that, right?)
So go on. Be brave. Show us those Ugly FO's!!

Golden Rose Sundress
Here are a few shots I took:
The pattern is really easy, with seed stitch, stockinette, a few garter stitch rows, and some easy lace. It is available for $4.00.
Let her know what you think, and buy the pattern!! :-)

Just for Kicks
This is bizarre -- after you find him -- it's so obvious.
Once you find him -- it's embarrassing, and you think, Why didn't I see him immediately?
Doctors have concluded that if you find the man in the coffee beans in 3 seconds, the right half of your brain is better developed than most people.
If you find the man between 3 seconds and 1 minute, the right half of the brain is developed normally.
If you find the man between 1 minute and 3 minutes, then the right half of your brain is functioning slowly and you need to eat more protein.
If you have not found the man after 3 minutes, the advice is to look for more of this type of exercise to make that part of the brain stronger!!!
And, yes, the man is really there!!!
If you can't find him, just ask. :-)

So Ugly It's Cute
and country music legend Randy Travis (not an alien).
Just for the record, I loved Randy Travis when my mom said that, many years ago. :-)
Anyway, that's how I feel about my most recent FO. I was trying to use some of the scads of leftover yarn from my baby-shower knitting. I only have these colors because they match her nursery theme of "Under The Sea." Think tacky beach hotel colors: orange, teal, aqua...
And yes, the mom-to-be calls herself a tacky decorator :-)
It probably, no, it would have been cute had I stuck with one color. But I decided to try to use lots of those awful colors to get them out of my stash and hoped they would be cute together. If you're tacky like Lena :-), or like the Miami Dolphins, then this is for you:
Is it better if I use cute models?

I Have a New Favorite
Today, on my day off, I decided to spend my Christmas gift certificate at another LYS, the Yarn Nook. And guess what? There was the same sample baby sweater, and the same yarn with the cool ball band. And let me just say that I might have a new favorite yarn. It's called "Sublime," and boy is it ever! Just look at these colors!
I was totally squeezing the Charmin when I saw this stuff. I bet yarn shops hate people like me, putting their grubby hands all over the cashmeres, silks, expensive hand-dyes and such. Ummmm, yarn. I love it! I almost rubbed it across my cheek like a favorite blankie - it's that soft! I can't wait to figure out what to make from it...
